Skin Rejuvenation Facial: What to Do in the First 72 Hours (facial rejuvenation treatment)
By Leena's Laser Center | October 5, 2026
Serving New Westminster, Burnaby, Vancouver, Coquitlam, Port Moody, and Surrey
The most important rule after your Skin Rejuvenation Facial is simple: protect your skin from heat and sun while it’s settling. I’ve seen how fast results can show up, one client told me after just one session their skin looked “noticeably smoother” and their stubborn brown spot was “about 95% gone.” To keep that kind of progress on track, the first 72 hours matter.
I run Leena’s Laser Center in New Westminster, and I keep this aftercare practical because most people don’t have time for guesswork. If you’re commuting through Sapperton or popping in near the SkyTrain, this guide is meant to help you stay confident, calm, and clear on what to do next.
First 24 to 48 hours: keep it cool, clean, and hands-off
Right after laser skin rejuvenation, your skin is doing repair work. Redness and warmth are common, and for some people there’s mild dryness or a “tight” feeling. In the first 24 to 48 hours, I generally recommend you keep things gentle and boring. That’s how you protect your result.
Quick checklist for day 1: gentle cleanse, cool compresses only, avoid direct sun, and skip makeup for at least 24 hours.
Do this
- Cleanse with lukewarm water and a fragrance-free cleanser. Pat dry. No scrubbing cloths or cleansing brushes.
- Use a cool compress if you feel warm or puffy. Keep it clean. Keep it short.
- Moisturize with a simple barrier-supporting moisturizer. If you’re unsure what to use, I’ll tell you what tends to behave best after a skin facial style of service.
Avoid this
- Hot showers, saunas, hot yoga, steam rooms, or anything that makes your face flush.
- Direct sun. Even in Metro Vancouver’s coastal climate, UV still hits healing skin, especially on bright days.
- Makeup for at least 24 hours. If you must wear it after that, keep it minimal and remove it gently.
- Picking or “helping” any dry bits. Let your skin shed in its own time.
Days 3 to 7: the week that keeps brown spots and fine lines improving
If you’re doing this facial rejuvenation treatment to smooth texture, even tone, or soften fine lines, the first week is where people accidentally mess up their momentum. It’s usually not something dramatic. It’s one “quick scrub, ” one retinol night, or one long hot bath.
Here’s the rule I stick to in my clinic in New Westminster. For 7 full days, skip active exfoliants and anything that forces skin turnover too fast. Clients come in excited because they’re already seeing smoother, more even skin and fading spots. I want you to protect that early progress.
Ingredients to avoid for 7 days
These are the common ones:
- Retinoids (retinol, tretinoin, adapalene)
- AHAs and BHAs (glycolic, lactic, salicylic)
- Strong vitamin C serums if they sting or flush you
- Physical scrubs, microbeads, rough washcloth exfoliation
And for 48 to 72 hours specifically, avoid sweating, swimming, and strenuous workouts. If you’re a busy parent or commuting through Sapperton, this is the part that helps you avoid extra redness so you can get back to school runs and work without feeling “puffy” for longer than you need.
Products I actually want you using: cleanser, barrier moisturizer, mineral SPF 30+
You don’t need a complicated shelf after a Skin Rejuvenation Facial. You need three things that behave well on fresh, sensitive skin.
1) Fragrance-free gentle cleanser
If it foams aggressively, tingles, or leaves you squeaky clean, it’s usually too much right now. Gentle and boring wins.
2) Barrier-supporting moisturizer
Look for soothing, simple formulas. The goal is hydration and comfort, not “active” results for the next week.
3) Broad-spectrum mineral SPF (30+)
This is non-negotiable. In Metro Vancouver, UV exposure can sneak up even when the air feels cool. If you’re outside during a sunny September day, reapply. This is one of the biggest differences between “nice improvement” and “why did my pigmentation come back?”
When to call me at Leena’s Laser Center (and what’s normal)
I keep my space in New Westminster clean, comfortable, and down-to-earth. People tell me they feel safe and well looked after because I explain every step and I don’t rush the questions. That doesn’t stop once you leave. If something feels off, I want to know about it.
“From the moment you walk into Leena’s Laser Center, you feel welcomed and taken care of. She explains every step, answers all questions patiently, and makes sure you’re comfortable.”
, one of our regulars
Usually normal
- Mild to moderate redness that settles over the next day or two
- A warm feeling for a few hours
- Dryness or light flaking as your skin turns over
Call me if you notice: increasing redness, severe swelling, blistering, pus, fever, or unexpected pain. Don’t wait it out if it’s getting worse.
If you’re close to Sapperton or commuting past Columbia station, you can also stop in for a quick post-treatment check or product pickup. Keeping downtime short is the point.
And if you found me while searching “skin care clinic near me” or “facial rejuvenation near me, ” you should know I also do laser hair removal, waxing, brazilian waxing near me requests, and other skin services. I’ll tell you honestly what pairs well and what should wait until your skin has fully calmed.
A simple plan for your next visit in New Westminster
Your Skin Rejuvenation Facial is a 25-minute appointment, and a lot of people like that it fits into real life. If you’re aiming at pigmentation, texture, or fine lines, I’ll map out timing that makes sense for your skin and your schedule. Some clients come in every 4 weeks for their laser goals, and we keep the aftercare consistent so their skin stays healthy and irritation-free.
If you have a question in the first 72 hours, reach out. It’s always easier to fix something early than to guess at home.
Need a quick check-in? I’m happy to talk through redness, product questions, or timing for workouts and makeup.
